Hiring A DUI Attorney in Alabama
When considering which law firm to represent you in a DUI or criminal case, it’s important to know a number of things. You need to know as much as you can about the DUI or Criminal Defense attorney who might be taking on your case. What percentage of their practice is dedicated to defending people in Alabama who are charged with driving under the influence or the crime you are accused of committing? What is their experience? Who will you be going to court with? Are your goals for the outcome of the case compatible? What is your ‘gut’ feeling about this lawyer's ability to properly handle your case? These are just a few of the things you should consider.
Step One: Contact George Flowers Law
Following an arrest, contact us right away at (256) 364-8000. I have had instances where a DUI or other criminal charge was dismissed after we obtained evidence that would have otherwise been lost if we would not have sought it out immediately. These vary based on the case but a few we have seen are obtaining security camera footage or photos of the arrest area. We will schedule a free consultation where we explain the process and potential defenses to your case. We will do our best to answer all your questions. My hope is that this will take away some of the stress of the unknown. You very well may have options that may can result in a dismissal of your case. We treat DUI and criminal defense as a passion rather than a job. As such, we are happy to share our knowledge and tips to anyone going through this stressful time.
Step Two: Arrange a Driver’s License Hearing
In Alabama, if you are arrested for driving under the influence, it is extremely likely that your driver’s license will be automatically suspended unless you fight the license suspension. In order to start the challenge to the driver’s license suspension, you will need to arrange a hearing with the Department of Public Safety. This hearing is a quasi-civil case that is not connected to the criminal case in any way other than that the evidence stems from the same event. This hearing must be requested within 10 days of the date of arrest. Once I am acting as your lawyer, I will request this hearing on your behalf. We strive to ensure you are able to drive without issue.
